Rural Skills Australia works closely with training and industry organisations associated with the National Farmers Federation and its member organisations.

Since 1995, we have managed projects across Australia across all sectors of the rural industry, and we have developed strong ties with many organisations and individuals. The case studies linked through on the left side of the page represent some of the projects we have worked on.  They serve as examples of achievement and successes from employers working closely with various service providers, including Registered Training Organisations or associated with programs managed through Australian Apprenticeship Centres.
They also demonstrate the coordination and delivery of Australian Apprenticeships in the rural sector.

Please follow the navigation links to individual case studies down the left side of the page.

Adrian Egan

Adrian Egan is a Level 3 Trainee with contractor Doug Carter of Morawa (Western Australia).  Adrian works as a wool presser and has already successfully completed his Certificate 2 in Agriculture (Sheep and Wool) through Central West College of TAFE with trainer Bernie Egerton-Green.  Central West College of TAFE has 60 trainees in shearing sheds and on farms.  The training they provide in largely done on the job and this very much suits the industry and the trainees.

In the picturesque 'Bay of Isles' on the south east coast of Western Australia, the Esperance Senior High School Farm offers students a wide range of options in Agricultural studies. A Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) program, a Certificate level I in Agriculture program, School Based Certificate II in Agriculture New Apprenticeships and a post school Certificate III in Agriculture New Apprenticeship are all offered.

Jessica Goodall

I am a Rural Operations trainee at the Mitchell College, Murray Grey Beef Cattle Stud.  My daily tasks involve feeding the horses and cattle, checking the water troughs to see that they are working checking the fences and controlling weeds.  I regularly ride an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) to transport the maintenance equipment, check the cattle in the paddocks and make sure the electric fences are working.
