Rural Apprentice Recruitment

Rural Skills Australia has developed new downloadable recruitment, induction and retention resource, which is available to assist employers of rural and related Australian Apprenticeships.
Rural Apprentice Recruitment website here
This project was funded under the Australian Government’s Industry Training Strategies Program, administered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
It includes fact sheets, forms and templates to assist employers with the recruitment, selection and induction of Australian Apprentices. The resource is tailored for primary producers and employers of rural and related apprentices. It contains streamlined, accurate and relevant information for engaging apprentices under appropriate industrial instruments.
The website takes the user through the process of identifying the benefits as well as the responsibilities, the recruiting and induction process, and retention of an apprentice. It also provides tips for supervising and handling HR and OH&S issues.
Please note that this resource does not provide business tools to determine whether or not you should hire but simply aims to help to facilitate the process of employing an Australian Apprentice. Individuals are advised to take relevant financial or accounting advice before making any decisions about hiring employees in their business.

Benefits for your business
There are many benefits to your business by taking on an apprentice, and a great many ways of structuring the arrangements to suit your needs.
However, the decision to take on an apprentice should not be taken lightly. A rural apprenticeship will involve a contractual commitment, between you and your apprentice for a nominated period, normally not less than twelve months and up to thirty six months, depending on your state or territory arrangements.
Australian Apprenticeships (often referred to as simply apprenticeships or traineeships) offer opportunities for anyone of working age to train, study and simultaneously earn an income in a wide range of occupations and trades. They are available in more than 500 occupations at all certificate levels up to Advanced Diploma and provide nationally recognised quality training developed by industry for industry.
School leavers can benefit from an Australian Apprenticeship by earning while they gain a valuable trade. More and more, mature age (over 25) workers can also benefit from apprenticeships by upgrading their skills while continuing employment.
