A Training Provider for Australian Apprenticeships must be a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). They will be qualified to provide the training and necessary assessment of your apprentice/trainee.
Select the RTO you want based on their availability, performance and expertise in your industry sector.
Some are more responsive and may be better suited to your needs – so shop around.
Spending time to find the right training provider will pay dividends down the track.
The Training Plan
A critical step in establishing a successful Australian Apprenticeship is the training plan.
Your training provider, in consultation with you and your apprentice/trainee will develop the training plan.
This is important, as you need to know your role, what activities the apprentice/trainee will undertake, the timeframes involved and methods of training delivery.
Training delivery can vary greatly. In metropolitan and larger centres training often occurs on a day or two a week (usually avoiding industry busy periods). In rural areas more flexible arrangements are often applied. Options such as ‘distance learning’, ‘at the workplace’ or ‘weekly block release’ (avoiding harvest and other seasonal activities) need to be considered.
A good training plan ensures that the training provider completes the training efficiently and on time.
