New Apprenticeships Support Networks Information Kit
The DETYA New Apprenticeships Support Networks Information Kit is now available. This Information Kit is based on the findings of the Support Models to Assist New Apprenticeships project, which was funded by DETYA and ANTA and conducted during 1999 and 2000. Rural Skills Australia assisted in the completion of this project by providing advice and information to the relevant project managers.

The project's support models were developed to engage, training and community service sectors to assist young people (15-24) at risk of not completing their New Apprenticeship.

The Information Kit is designed to assist implementation of the models and is aimed at organisations such as training providers, community groups, industry groups, and NACs who wish to facilitate a model in their region. The Information Kit comprises:
Guide 1: A practical Guide for strengthening networks entitled Support Networks Guide.
Guide 2: Contacts for Support templates, containing information about the State Training Authority, NAC and RTO roles.
Guide 3: Mentoring Guide, containing resources and templates for volunteer mentoring support.
Guide 4: Language, Literacy and Numeracy in the Workplace Guide for information about supporting New Apprentices in their language, literacy and numeracy skills development appropriate to the workplace.
Guide 5: Indigenous Guide for information and strategies for supporting Indigenous New Apprentices.
The Kit includes a 3½-inch floppy disc with promotional material, to assist organisations setting up networks at the local level. The disc also contains templates for organisations to customise.
