AUSTRALIAN APPRENTICESHIPS CENTRES

CALL AN AUSTRALIAN APPRENTICESHIPS CENTRE

You should do this whether you are just thinking about employing an Australian Apprentice or whether you have already commenced your employee.

To choose an Australian Apprenticeships Centre call the Australian Apprenticeships Referral Line on
13 38 73
(local call cost within Australia). You will be asked for your post code, and then you will be given the names of centres which are contracted to your region with their appropriate freecall telephone numbers.

Ask the chosen Australian Apprenticeship Centre to send a representative to your workplace for a face to face visit and ask as many questions as you wish.  Their field officers are well trained and experienced.

Remember, the Australian Apprenticeships Centre is contracted by the Australian Government to provide you with a wide range of services such as assistance with choosing the Australian Apprenticeship most appropriate to your business, providing advice on recruitment, employment and training options, advice on legal requirements, helping you with paperwork, arranging financial incentives for you and allowances for your Australian Apprentice and providing assistance with retaining your Australian Apprentice until completion of the training period.

To find out which Registered Training Organisation can deliver your training requirements in your area you should seek assistance from your Australian Apprenticeships Centre.

If you do not wish to employ an Australian Apprentice directly you should look at engaging a Group Training Organisation.  They can offer you a flexible and cost effective way of employing your Australian Apprentice.  They take on the legal employment of the Australian Apprentice and then place them with you (the host business) for an agreed period of time.  You will be able to more effectively meet changing market demands, by hiring according to your peaks and troughs thus reducing your employment costs when your work is slow.  For contact with a Group Training Organisation in your area call 1800 819 747.
