Landscape Queensland Training Awards

Bob Ward (RSA Queensland) was the judge of training categories for the 2011 Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards in Brisbane on 5 November.

More than 300 people attended the gala dinner at the Brisbane Hilton where the industry recognised high achievement in more than 20 different categories. Landscape Queensland is the peak body that represents the interest of the state’s landscape contractors (both hard and soft), landscape designers, suppliers of products and services and education and training providers.

"The standard of entries was very high and entrants deserved to be commended for their achievement," Mr Ward said. "It was good to see such commitment to training and further education, and the improved standard of professionalism within the landscape industry."

Entertainment was by comedian/impersonator Ben Price and MC Ian Skippen, a former radio personality.

Scape Shapes Landscaping took out the Landscape Industry Training Award with their ‘Transforming People Project’.

Craig Mitchell of Cairns Regional Council and Andrew Ikstrum of Bundaberg Golf Course were awarded the Trainee and Apprentice of the Year categories respectively. Both students were nominated by Horticultural Training.
