NSW Traineeships & Apprenticeships

(Current at 1st January 2012)
Vocational Training Orders (VTO) are issued in relation to declared callings and trades to provide traineeship and apprenticeship pathways in NSW.
Over recent months required processes have been finalised to allow for new and revised traineeship and apprenticeship pathways linked to new and revised qualifications in the AHC10 Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation Land Management Training Package as detailed below.
It is anticipated that the Rural Skills VTO will be revised and updated in the coming months.

Horticulture - Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Date of effect: 9 September 2011

New trade and traineeship vocations in horticulture have been established.

Apprenticeships

  • Horticulture - Landscape Construction
  • Horticulture - Parks and Gardens
  • Horticulture - Production Nursery
  • Horticulture - Retail Nursery
  • Horticulture - Sports Turf Management

Traineeships

  • Horticulture - Arboriculture
  • Horticulture - Floriculture
  • Horticulture - Horticulture
  • Horticulture - Landscaping
  • Horticulture - Parks and Gardens
  • Horticulture - Production Nursery
  • Horticulture - Retail Nursery
  • Horticulture - Sports Turf Management

Seventeen AHC10 Training Package qualifications support horticulture apprenticeships and traineeships as follows.

  • AHC31010 Certificate III in Parks and Gardens
  • AHC31110 Certificate III in Production Nursery
  • AHC31210 Certificate III in Retail Nursery
  • AHC31310 Certificate III in Sports Turf Management

Traineeships

  • AHC20410 Certificate II in Horticulture
  • AHC30710 Certificate III in Horticulture
  • AHC40410 Certificate IV in Horticulture
  • AHC20510 Certificate II in Arboriculture
  • AHC30810 Certificate III in Arboriculture
  • AHC21510 Certificate II in Floriculture
  • AHC33210 Certificate III in Floriculture
  • AHC21610 Certificate II in Landscaping
  • AHC20810 Certificate II in Retail Nursery
  • AHC20710 Certificate II in Production Nursery

Available Traineeship Qualifications under the varied Rural Skills Order include:

  • Certificate II, III and IV in Agriculture
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Sheep and Wool Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Grain Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Horse Breeding)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Poultry Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Milk Harvesting)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Beef Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Cotton Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Dairy Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Goat Production)
  • Certificate III in Agriculture (Sugar Production)
  • Certificate III in Rural Merchandising
  • Certificate II in Crutching
  • Certificate II in Wool Handling
  • Certificate III in Advanced Wool Handling
  • Certificate II, III and IV in Shearing
  • Certificate III in Wool Clip Preparation
  • Certificate IV in Wool Classing
  • Certificate II, III and IV in Production Horticulture
  • Certificate II & III in Rural Operations
  • Certificate III & IV in Rural Business
  • Certificate II, III & IV in Irrigation 

Note Certificate II and IV Agriculture can include suggested pathways and specialisation in Beef production, Dairy production, Goat production, Grain production, Horse breeding, Milk harvesting, Pig production, Poultry production, Sheep and wool production and Sugar production.

Conservation and Land Management - Traineeships

Date of effect: 16 December 2011

New traineeship vocations have been established and the Vocational Training Order for Conservation and Land Management has been varied for the following.

  • Conservation and Land Management - Conservation Earthworks,
  • Conservation and Land Management - Indigenous Land Management,
  • Conservation and Land Management - Lands, Parks and Wildlife,
  • Conservation and Land Management - Natural Area Restoration,
  • Conservation and Land Management - Vertebrate Pest Management,
  • Conservation and Land Management - Weed Management

Nine AHC10 Training Package qualifications support CLM traineeship pathways. Their details are below:

  • AHC21010 Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management
  • AHC31410 Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management
  • AHC31510 Certificate II in Indigenous Land Management
  • AHC31610 Certificate III in Lands, Parks and Wildlife
  • AHC31710 Certificate III in Natural Area Restoration
  • AHC31810 Certificate III in Vertebrate Pest Management
  • AHC31910 Certificate III in Weed Management
  • AHC32310 Certificate III in Conservation Earthworks
  • AHC40910 Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management

Animal Care and Management - Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Date of effect: 14 January 2011

New trade and traineeship vocations in Animal Care and Management have been established.

The ACM10 Animal Care and Management Training Package includes 15 qualifications ranging from Certificate I to Diploma.

One qualification supports an apprenticeship pathway:

  • ACM30510 Certificate III in Farriery

 The following nine qualifications support the animal care and management traineeship pathways:

  • ACM20110 Certificate II in Animal Studies
  • ACM30110 Certificate III in Animal Studies
  • ACM30210 Certificate III in Animal Technology
  • ACM30310 Certificate III in Captive Animals
  • ACM30410 Certificate III in Companion Animal Services
  • ACM40110 Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation
  • ACM40210 Certificate IV in Captive Animals
  • ACM40310 Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services
  • ACM40410 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
