NSW Industry Skills Priorities

Melissa Wortman
Executive Officer, AgriFood NSW

The NSW Department of Education and Communities Planning is identifying the rural industry’s skills priorities for 2013-14. AgriFood NSW Industry Training Advisory Body is seeking input into this important issue to ensure the needs of the rural industry are addressed and that funding is made available to industry. This will help to determine where the department spends its funding for the industry in late 2012 and 2013-14. The two main programs to be funded are 1. apprenticeships and traineeships and 2. strategic skills program.
Traditionally, this program is associated with a NSW skills priority list that focuses on funding for full and part qualifications. This is where funding can be sourced for short courses, such as biosecurity skill sets, groups of competencies or full qualifications.
If you would like to have your say where the funding should be spent please contact Ms Wortman on 0421 830 056 or at Melissa.wortman@agrifoodskills.net.au
