FARM RECRUITMENT - FINDING GOOD WORKERS

Much of this section is based upon an employment guide developed by NSW Farmers' Association. The content is generally applicable to all States and Territories, but there are legislative variations across the country so you are advised to check with your State Farmers’ Organisation.

To find good new employees you will need to:

Define clearly the job vacancy and the type of person, skills, abilities and qualifications required
  Attract appropriate applicants
Quickly and effectively get to know applicants
Select the right person for the job
  Work within legislative requirements

Your recruitment will be different depending on the location of your farm, the availability of skilled labour in your region, and the type of position you have available. These guidelines focus on general farm recruitment. Click on the box to take you to a section.

A separate module is available for farmers recruiting seasonal workers/casual labour.
