Giving the new employee an overview
When a new employee joins the farm they need to be made to
feel welcome. You may want to do all the induction yourself or you may ask another
trusted person to take some of the responsibility for:
- A tour of the farm and explanation of the major operations
- Introductions to other workers
- A description of the history of the business and how it
got to where it is today
- An outline of the main produce, seasonal activities and
how that affects work tasks and levels of activity
- General future plans and what that might mean to the farm
as a whole
- Social activities on and off the farm
- Transport off the farm
- Living quarters, meals and facilities
- Medical services and support
- Who to take concerns to
- Farm rules (other than OH&S issues covered elsewhere)
And so on
.

It shows how induction information for new employees can be presented in writing.
